Mission Biofuels India Private Limited ("MBIPL") a subsidiary of Mission NewEnergy
Limited was established in March 2007 for the upstream Jatropha Curcas Feedstock
Business and wind energy projects.
Mission Biofuels India Private Limited is involved in a large scale cultivation
of Jatropha Curcas as well as nurseries and procurement centres in several states
of India. This will see the company produce Jatropha oil for production of sustainable
biodiesel.
The key achievements of the company to date include;
- Access to over 350,000 acres of Jatropha cultivation with the goal to increase the
acreage to 1,500,000 by end of 2009 and to 2,500,000 acres by end of 2018.
- Development of its own Jatropha nurseries and seed procurement business in India.
- A strong network of field professionals in 6 states of India.
- Agreements in place with micro farming groups and world class research groups.
- Partnerships with the leading Jatropha research centre - The Energy Resources Institute
(TERI), to implement optimum planting cultivation technologies and ensure highest
yields are achieved.
- An India-wide service network that includes the national office team, state level
managers, regional field officers, district field assistants, village level representatives
equipped with motor bikes and mobile phones to maintain daily contact with farmers
and local language call centres to assist the enquiries of the farmers.
